Mercedes Benz Fashion Week SS 2018 has left me with an immense sense of pride, joy, and satisfaction. Being bestowed the title of Fashion Week Ambassador allowed me to experience all the shows up close and extremely personal. Everything from my pick ups/drop offs and seating to my lovely “X-Bank” apartment where I spent my evenings post festivities – was well organized.
Bas Kosters had the honor of opening Amsterdam Fashion Week. His collection was funky, stylish, fun and full of color. The models brought their own vibrance, diversity, and uniqueness to the stage!!
I was proud to see that most of the collections where created with sustainable materials. It’s so important for designers to set a good example which very likely will be picked up by the main audience. Durable fashion shouldn’t be considered rare, but the norm and that’s exactly what they showed us.
Another thing that pleasantly surprised me was that 80% of the models varied in ethnicity, age and mix-gender groups – a true reflection of society and the beauty we all possess.
I am so proud of our small country for making such an impact. Keep setting an example Amsterdam!
